Thursday NHL Free Pick
(The Spread) – Sometimes it’s easier to find value when two teams have losing records overall. Take tonight’s Senators-Panthers game for example.

Oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com have made the Panthers –132 home favorites over the Senators (+122) on Thursday night. The over/under total for this game is currently five goals.
The Senators enter tonight’s game with a 23-34-5-4 record and are 12-16-3-1 on the road. The Panthers are 27-31-5-4 overall and 13-13-4-3 at home, which includes a 1-0-1 record to begin a season-high seven-game homestand.
According to latest NHL trends, the under is 34-29 in Ottawa’s games this season, but the over is 17-14. The under is 36-25 in all Florida games this season, and 11-17 when the Panthers play inside the BankAtlantic Center.
NHL Free Pick: The Senators currently reside in the basement of the Eastern Conference but that doesn’t mean that they’re easy prey for bettors. They’ve played well of late, winning five of their last eight games overall and four of five on the road. The Panthers, meanwhile, have won just two of their last 12 games at home and have dropped 18 of 24 overall. Yikes. The Senators are 16-5 in their last 21 trips to Florida and 27-10 in their last 37 games against the Panthers. Don’t be fooled by Ottawa’s record or the fact that Florida is playing at home. There’s tremendous value in the underdog Senators tonight. (Keep an eye on Jason Spezza, who has racked up eight points in his last seven games, as well as goalie Craig Anderson, who will no doubt be motivated to beat his former team tonight.)
