Stars shut out by Hurricanes

Dallas fell by a count of 3-0 at home Saturday against Carolina to drop to 33-23-6 on the season. The Hurricanes scored one unanswered goal in each of the three period to gradually pull away. The Stars registered 24 shots on goal in the defeat with Tyler Seguin leading the way with four shots. Ben Bishop took the loss in net as he surrendered two goals on 30 shots.

Blackhawks upended by Avs

Chicago lost 5-3 at home Friday night against Colorado to drop to 26-27-9 on the season. Dylan Strome tied it up at 1-1 with 9:12 left in the second period on a power play goal assisted by Erik Gustafsson and Duncan Keith. After the Avalanche took the lead again, Patrick Kane evened it at 2-2 with 29 seconds left in the second period on his 39th goal of the season. It was assisted by Jonathan Toews. Colorado grabbed lead in the third, while the Blackhawks tied it at 3-3 on a power play goal by Alex DeBrincat at the 10-minute mark. It was his 34th goal of the season and assisted by Gustafsson and Toews. The Avs scored twice the rest of the way to send Chicago to the loss. NHL Betting Trends

The Stars are 28-62 in their last 90 games played on zero days of rest. Dallas is 15-36 in its last 51 Sunday games.

The Blackhawks are 4-0 in their last four games as a favorite. Chicago is 10-3 in its last 13 games overall.

Chicago has had plenty of rough stretches this season, but has gradually shown improvement over the last couple months. The Blackhawks have the firepower up front, so its usually a matter of defense and goaltending. Chicago has the rest advantage here and the Stars already looked tired Saturday, so I'm taking the hosts here on what is a reasonable enough moneyline.
