Monday NHL Opening Odds
(The Spread) -There are only three games on a light NHL schedule Monday night, but all three are intriguing including the NHL-best Vancouver Canucks taking on the host St. Louis Blues. Continue reading for opening lines, odds and totals on every game in the NHL for February 14, 2011.
Not many teams have found the formula to defeat Vancouver this season, but one of those was the St. Louis Blues as they got the best of the Canucks by a 3-2 final in overtime on Dec. 5. St. Louis hosts Vancouver Monday at 8:00PM EST as it tries to again knock off the team with the top record in the NHL.
Oddsmakers and online sports book Sportsbook.com have listed the Canucks as -135 favorites, while the over-under is set at 5.5. According to the latest trends, Vancouver is 28-25-3 on over-unders this season and St. Louis is 26-26-2 on over-unders.
The Canucks (36-11-9) have won seven of their last eight games, including a 4-2 victory over the Calgary Flames two days ago. The Blues (24-21-9) are losers of three of their last four, the last of which being a 3-1 loss at Minnesota Saturday.
David Backes leads St. Louis offensively with 20 goals and 21 assists. Daniel Sedin tops Vancouver as he has accounted for 29 goals and 44 assists.
Other NHL games include the Washington Capitals at the Phoenix Coyotes, which will start at 8:00PM EST. Both Washington and Phoenix are -110 on the moneyline, while the over-under is 5.5. The Colorado Avalanche are home at 10:00PM EST versus the Calgary Flames. Colorado is a -115 favorite and the over-under is 5.5.
