Sharks secure OT win at Jets
San Jose earned a 3-2 overtime victory at Winnipeg Tuesday night to improve to 31-16-7 on the season. Logan Couture evened the score at 1-1 with his 20th goal of the season on the power play with 9:06 left in the first period. Joe Pavelski and Kevin Lablanc assisted on the score. The Jets went ahead 2-1 through two periods, but in the third a goal by Marcus Sorensen evened it up. Assists on the score went to Leblanc and Marc-Edouard Vlasic. Pavelski won it in overtime on a shorthanded score with Brent Burns assisting. Martin Jones recorded 25 saves on 27 shots to pick up the win.
Flames edge Hurricanes
Calgary picked up a 4-3 win Sunday night at Carolina to move to 34-14-5 on the season. Elias Lindholm evened the score at 1-1 in the first period on a goal assisted by Sean Monahan and Mark Giordano. Derek Ryan put the Flames ahead 2-1 in the second on a goal assisted by Andrew Mangiapane and Oliver Kylington. Garnet Hathaway added a shorthanded goal to make it 3-1 off an assist from Ryan. After the Hurricanes cut it to 3-2 later in the second, Calgary added an insurance goal in the third by Noah Hanifin to help put it away. Sam Bennett and James Neal assisted on the goal. NHL Betting Trends
The Sharks are 6-1 in their last seven games versus the Western Conference. San Jose is 4-1 in its last five games as an underdog.
The Flames are 5-0 in their last five games versus the Western Conference. Calgary is 6-1 in its last seven home games.
The Flames are very tough at home and are having a fantastic season overall. They also have more rest than their counterparts. While San Jose has the talent to get it done here, I like Calgary to protect its home ice.
