Monday NHL Opening Odds
(The Spread) – There are six games on the NHL schedule Monday night and it includes a matchup between the New York Rangers and the Detroit Red Wings that will air nationally. Continue reading for opening lines and totals on all the NHL games for February 7, 2011.
Nothing has gone right for the Detroit Red Wings in their last two games, which has not exactly been a microcosm of the season. While Detroit is still 31-15-6 overall and first in the Central Division of the Western Conference, the last two contests have not gone as planned as it lost by identical 3-0 scores against Columbus and Nashville.
Detroit will attempt to reverse its fortunes Monday night at home against the New York Rangers. The game will be aired live on Versus at 7:30PM EST.
Oddsmakers and online sports book Sportsbook.com have made the Red Wings -200 favorites, while the over-under rests at 5.5. According to the latest trends, Detroit is 2-0 versus the Rangers over the past three seasons.
Henrik Zetterberg lead the Redwings with 16 goals and 40 assists, while goaltender Jimmy Howard is 25-9-3 with a 2.85 goals-against average. Brandon Dubinsky paces New York with 17 goals and 22 assists. Henrik Lundqvist is 21-17-4 with a 2.35 GAA.
In other NHL action, the Calgary Flames host the Chicago Blackhawks at 9:30PM EST. Chicago is a -120 favorite and the over-under is 5.5. NHL-best Vancouver is home against Ottawa at 10:00PM EST. The Canucks are -250 favorites with an over-under at 5.5.
