Jacob Markstrom stopped all 23 shots he faced in Wednesday’s 6-0 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets. Markstrom spent the majority of his night simply watching the blitzing of opposing netminder Elvis Merzlikins, who faced a silly 62 shots in the contest. This was Markstrom’s sixth shutout in 29 starts this season. That’s the most in the NHL. He has been playing a tight crease over the second half of January, having allowed more than one goal just once in his last four starts. Showing next on the schedule for Calgary, a Thursday matchup with the Blues.

Jordan Binnington got pulled from the game after allowing seven goals on 35 shots in Monday’s 7-1 loss to the Calgary Flames. Hopefully Binnington has a short memory as this was one of his worst performances of the season. The 28-year-old struggled in the first period but was under constant pressure from the Flames. He fared even worse in the second frame as Calgary was relentless on the puck and the team in front of him had no answer. Binnington was pulled for the start of the third. He now owns a 11-9-3 record with a 3.27 goals-against average and .901 save percentage.
Flames vs. Blues NHL Prediction
Despite their 7-1 beatdown of the Blues on Monday night in Calgary, the Flames are still just 1-4 in their last five games against St. Louis and are 3-10 in their last 13 games at Enterprise Center. The favorite is also 37-15 in the last 52 meetings between these two teams, while the Blues are 6-2 in their last eight games overall and 13-3 in their last 16 home games. On the other side, the Flames are just 2-5 in their last seven games overall and are 0-4 in their last four road games.
