There are only three NHL games on the schedule Wednesday, but one of them involves two of the league’s most storied franchises as the New York Rangers host the Toronto Maple Leafs at 7:00PM EST. Both sides come in with two-game losing streaks and will be eager to end their respective skids tonight.
Oddsmakers and online sports book Sportsbook.com have made New York -160 favorites in the contest. The over-under is set at 5.5.
While the two teams each have two game losing streaks, it has overall been a more fruitful season for the Rangers as they are 26-18-3 and currently the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference with 55 points. New York has not lost more than two games in a row all season long.
According to the latest trends, the Rangers are 6-5 straight up versus the Maple Leafs over the past three seasons. New York is 11-10-2 at home this year, while Toronto is 9-11-1 on the road.
The Rangers fell Saturday at Montreal and Sunday in a home game versus Philadelphia, both by identical 3-2 scores. Brandon Dubinsky has accounted for 17 points and 21 assists to lead New York in scoring thus far. Toronto fell 5-1 Thursday at Phoenix and then 2-1 at home in overtime to Calgary in its last game. Clarke MacArthur tops to Maple Leafs with 14 goals and 23 assists.
Elsewhere, Columbus (21-20-5) plays at Florida (21-20-3) beginning at 7:30 p.m. The Panthers are a -140 favorite and the over-under is 5.5. Minnesota (23-18-5) travels to Calgary (20-20-6) at 9:30 p.m., where the Flames are a -140 favorite as well and the over-under is 5.
