Tuesday NHL Opening Odds
(The Spread) – There’s a full slate of action on the rinks tonight, including a rematch of the 2009 Stanley Cup between the Detroit Red Wings and the Pittsburgh Penguins. Continue reading to check out opening lines, odds and totals for Tuesday’s action in the NHL.
Oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com have yet to release the money lines for the Penguins and Red Wings, but this matchup features two teams that are closing in on 30 wins so let’s take a look at the leads of these squads.
Johan Franzen leads the Wings in goals with 19, while Henrik Zetterberg has a team-high 34 assists. Sidney Crosby leads the Penguins in both of those categories, as he has 32 goals to match his 34 assists.
According to latest NHL trends, the under is 5-0 in the last five meetings between the Wings and Pens. The home team is also 8-1 in the last nine meetings, which obviously works to the Pens’ advantage with the game being played in Pittsburgh tonight. The Red Wings are also 2-5 in the last seven meetings between these teams and 0-4 in their last four trips to Pittsburgh.
There’s another great matchup in Philadelphia on Tuesday, as the Flyers host the Washington Capitals. Philly is currently –140 on the money line, while Washington is +129 and the over/under goal total has opened at 6.
In Colorado, the Avalanche have a tough task on their hands as they host the Vancouver Canucks, who are currently 29-10-6 on the year. The Canucks are –117 money line favorites in this contest, while the Aves are +108.
