Blue Jackets down Predators

Columbus secured a 4-3 overtime home victory Thursday night over Nashville as Artemi Panarin scored the game-winning goal in the extra session. It was his second power play goal of the contest. Boone Jenner also scored two goals in the triumph. Zach Werenski dished out two assists. Joonas Korpisalo made 32 saves on 35 shots in the winning effort.

Ovechkin scores twice in Caps win

Washington doubled up host Boston by a count of 4-2 Thursday night, its 14th straight win over the Bruins. Jakub Vrana scored a goal in the win, while Nicklas Backstrom scored in the third period to break a 2-2 tie before Alex Ovechkin added an insurance tally. It was Ovechkin's second goal of the contest. T.J. Oshie added two assists in the winning effort. Braden Holtby surrendered two goals on 41 shots in the winning effort.

NHL Betting Trends

Columbus

The Blue Jackets are 4-1 in their last five games versus the Metropolitan Division. The road team is 7-1 in the last eight meetings.

Washington

The Capitals are 5-1 in the last six meetings. The over is 5-1 in the last six meetings in Washington.

Prediction:

Washington has won three in a row, but Columbus might have revenge on its mind after last season's playoff series. The Caps could also be looking at a letdown after a win against Boston, a game which they always seem to put a lot of effort into. The Blue Jackets have a solid squad and are fully capable of beating any team on any given night. I'm going to take a shot on the underdog in this spot.
