Los Angeles improved to 17-23-3 on the season and ended a two-game losing skid Saturday night with a 4-0 home win over Edmonton. The Kings scored three first-period goals, starting with a Kyle Clifford score off assists from Drew Doughty and Derek Forbort. Anze Kopitar added an insurance goal in the third period with assists going to Dustin Brown and Ilya Kovalchuk. Jonathan Quick made 16 saves in the shutout victory.
Sharks roll past Lightning
San Jose secured a 5-2 home triumph over Tampa Bay Saturday night as Evander Kane scored two goals to give him 200 for his career. The Sharks (23-13-7) have now won four of their last five contests. Logan Couture scored his 16th goal of the season to make it 1-0 in the first period on assists by Timo Meier and Erik Karlsson. Joe Pavelski made it 2-0 with 9:59 left in the first off an assist from Brent Burns. The Lightning cut the deficit in half before the end of the first period, but Kane scored on the power play in the second to make it 3-1 as Burns and Karlsson assisted. Tampa Bay managed to trim it back to 3-2 before the end of the first period, but Kane scored his 14th goal of the season in the third on an assist by Brenden Dillon to again make it a two-goal game. Lukas Radil added an insurance goal later in the third on assists from Meier and Burns. Martin Jones saved 17 shots on 19 attempts to post the win, while Aaron Dell stopped the only shot sent his way.
NHL Betting Trends
The under is 8-1 in the last nine games following a Kings win. The under is 17-4-1 in the last 22 LA games on Mondays.
The over is 6-1 in the last seven Sharks games on Mondays. The over is 4-1 in the last five San Jose games playing on one day of rest.
These are two contrasting styles here, but right now it's very difficult to hold down the explosive San Jose offense. With both goalies hovering around a .900 save percentage expect there to be enough scoring here to send the total over its projection.
