Nashville lost by a score of 6-4 at Pittsburgh Saturday night to drop to 18-14-6 on the season. The Predators trailed 3-0 through one period before Viktor Arvidsson scored on the power play with assists going to Calle Jarnkrok and Roman Josi 4:02 into the second period. Pittsburgh extended it to 4-1 four minutes later, but Nashville trimmed it to 4-2 with 3:57 left in the second on a Craig Smith goal off assists from Colin Blackwell and Josi. Mikael Granlund brought the Predators within a goal off assists from Matt Duchene and Filip Forsberg with 59 seconds to go in the period. Granlund evened the score at 4-4 with 11:04 left in the third period off assists from Duchene and Josi. The Penguins scored twice in the last 1:03 of the contest to secure the win. Stars double up Coyotes
Dallas picked up a 4-2 victory Sunday night at Arizona to move to 22-14-4 on the season. The Stars trailed 2-0 through two periods before rallying in the third period as Jamie Benn put Dallas on the board off assists by Tyler Seguin and Esa Lindell. Roope Hintz gave the Stars a 3-2 advantage with 4:09 to play off assists from Denis Gurianov and John Klingberg. NHL Betting Trends
The Predators are 6-2 in their last eight games as a road underdog. Nashville is 4-9 in its last 13 games versus the Western Conference.
The Stars are 7-1 in their last eight Wednesday games. Dallas is 21-10 in its last 31 games overall.
This will be an interesting game in a lot of aspects considering the game will be outdoors in the afternoon in Dallas. Hopefully the technology to keep the ice cold enough is up to par. As for the hockey, I expect the Stars to come out like gangbusters with the adrenaline of a Winter Classic game they are hosting. Dallas has played well lately and is playing a Nashville squad that has a few issues in the back end. I think the Stars are the right play here and it only helps they have won the last four meetings.
