EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) The Minnesota Vikings have signed center Joe Berger to a one-year contract extension.
The deal was done Friday, marking the beginning of Berger’s 12th season in the NFL. This is his sixth year with the Vikings. Berger has 34 starts in 77 games with Minnesota and 54 starts in 115 career games, including time with Dallas and Miami.
He took a $985,000 base salary into the season.
Berger has carved out a niche as a valuable, versatile backup, but he beat out six-year starter John Sullivan for the job in training camp after thriving in the role last season while Sullivan was out.
