PHILADELPHIA (AP) -Jon Dorenbos, a long snapper who has performed magic shows in Hollywood and Las Vegas, signed a five-year contract extension Saturday with the Philadelphia Eagles.
He would have become an unrestricted free agent following the season.
“Jon has been a very good long snapper for us over the last year and a half,” Eagles general manager Tom Heckert said. “Good, consistent long snappers are hard to find and we wanted to shore up that position for the next several years.
Dorenbos was signed late last season after longtime long snapper Mike Bartrum was injured. He’s played 22 games with the Eagles, including playoffs. The 27-year-old player also was with Buffalo (2003-04) and Tennessee (2005-06).
When Dorenbos was a child, his mother was murdered by his father. To help ease his mind, Dorenbos took up magic, and has become an accomplished magician.
