NEW YORK (AP) – Comments on the Denver Broncos by the AP Pro32 panel (ranking in parentheses):
DENVER BRONCOS (10)
Alex Marvez (Foxsports.com, 5): Peyton Manning’s medical problems almost derailed Hall of Fame career. Now back on field, Manning will be pain in neck for opposing defenses.
Cris Collinsworth, NBC Sports, 6): Peyton Manning proved how valuable he is by getting injured.
Ira Kaufman (Tampa Tribune, 7): Keeping Peyton Manning upright is Job 1.
John Lynch (Fox Sports, 8): Call me a homer but two words: Peyton Manning.
Chris Berman (ESPN, 10): I heard Broncos acquired Peyton Manning.
Clifton Brown (Sporting News, 10): Peyton Manning will bring out best in receivers, and defense gets after quarterbacks.
Clark Judge (CBSSports.com, 11): I’ll give Peyton the benefit of doubt, but I’m skeptical.
Dan Pompei (Chicago Tribune, 12): If Peyton Manning is Peyton Manning of old, Broncos will be formidable opponent for anyone.
Rich Gannon (CBS Sports/SiriusXM NFL Radio, 13): Manning and Broncos finish 9-7.
Pat Kirwan (SiriusXM NFL Radio/CBSSports.com, 13): Manning makes the difference. Broncos won division last year without him and Peyton makes Demaryius Thomas and Eric Decker big factors.
Bob Glauber (Newsday, 15): Most-watched comeback in recent memory is upon us. If Peyton Manning is anywhere close to old self, Denver will be one interesting – and successful – team.
Rick Gosselin (Dallas Morning News, 15): Peyton Manning changing horses this fall. After having been shoved off his colt, he climbed aboard a bronco; he’s also giving up indoors for great outdoors.
