EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) -Minnesota Vikings safety Tank Williams missed practice Wednesday because of a knee injury and defensive end Kenechi Udeze was gone for personal reasons.
Vikings coach Brad Childress said an MRI exam revealed a strain in Williams’ knee and it was unclear if the backup would be available Sunday against Detroit.
Running back Adrian Peterson (knee) and cornerback Antoine Winfield (hamstring) were limited in practice after missing last week’s game against the Giants.
Childress said that before he was injured against Green Bay three weeks ago, Peterson was “taking the lion’s share of the reps (in practice). But again, I want to keep an eyeball on him and make sure Chester Taylor is involved as well, so they will split a bunch of those.”
Fullback Tony Richardson (knee), center Matt Birk (knee), linebacker Dontarrious Thomas (groin) and receiver Troy Williamson (concussion) also were limited in practice.
Childress also commented briefly on defensive tackle Fred Evans’ two-game suspension for violating the league’s personal conduct policy stemming from a run-in with Miami police while he was with the Dolphins.
“I can’t really comment because it has to do with the NFL’s discipline policy,” Childress said. “I will say that he has been a member in good standing of this football team, and in the community, since he has been here and I will leave it right at that.”
With Evans suspended, the Vikings promoted defensive tackle Conrad Bolston from the practice squad to the active roster and signed defensive tackle Alex Guerrero to the practice squad.
