BEREA, Ohio (AP) -Cleveland nose tackle Ted Washington's season ended Wednesday when the Browns placed the massive 17-year veteran on injured reserve.
Washington began the season as a starter, but was inactive for two games as Ethan Kelly started in the 39-year-old's spot. The Browns said Washington has an injured left knee.
``Ted has been working through some knee issues that finally have caught up to him,'' Browns coach Romeo Crennel said in a statement. ``We appreciate his effort to this point and know he will continue to help us any way he can in going forward.''
The Browns also claimed defensive back Ricardo Colclough off waivers from Pittsburgh.
The 5-foot-11, 195-pound Colclough was originally taken in the second round (No. 38 overall) by the Steelers in 2004. He played in three games this season for Pittsburgh and 36 the past three years.
Listed at 375 pounds, Washington has played in 236 career games - 204 starts - with San Francisco, Denver, Buffalo, Chicago, New England, Oakland and Cleveland.
