SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) -Francisco Garcia scored 21 points, Kevin Martin added 20 and the Sacramento Kings pulled away in the second half to beat the Portland Trail Blazers 111-87 on Sunday night.
Leading by three points at intermission, the Kings opened the third quarter with a 7-1 run and led by double figures the remainder of the game. Martin made shots from all over, scoring 12 points in the quarter as the Kings took a 79-64 lead into the fourth.
It’s been quite the preseason for Martin, who is averaging 21 points and shooting 61 percent in five games. Martin enjoyed a breakout season a year ago when he led the Kings in scoring, averaging a a career-high 20.2 points.
Both Garcia and Martin hit three 3-pointers for Sacramento, who were coming off a humbling 101-77 loss Friday night in Portland. Mikki Moore had 13 points and eight rebounds, Darryl Watkins added 13 points, and John Salmons scored 12.
Jarrett Jack led the Blazers with 19 points, Channing Frye came off the bench for 18 and Martell Webster added 13 for youthful Portland.
Salmons, the likely temporary replacement for Ron Artest, helped the Kings start fast. He scored 10 points in the opening quarter.
Kings forward Ron Artest has a lower left leg injury and didn’t dress. Artest will miss the first seven regular season games because of a league suspension.
Portland’s LaMarcus Aldridge, averaging a team-leading 19.5 points this preseason, sat out because of a sore toe.
