Four of Sunday’s NFL games had the winning points scored in the final 10 seconds – the first time that’s happened since 1970. A fifth game ended with a touchdown on a blocked punt in overtime, which had never happened before.
A look at Sunday’s five fantastic finishes:
Falcons 22, Bears 20
Jason Elam kicked a 48-yard field goal on the final play to atone for a miss earlier in the fourth quarter. Chicago looked as though it had clinched the victory on Kyle Orton’s touchdown pass to Rashied Davis with 11 seconds left.
Rams 19, Redskins 17
Josh Brown kicked a 49-yard field goal on the last play to give the Rams – two-touchdown underdogs – a 19-17 victory.
Texans 29, Dolphins 28
Houston earned its first win when QB Matt Schaub ran for a 3-yard touchdown on fourth down with 3 seconds left. Andre Johnson’s acrobatic 23-yard catch on fourth-and-10 kept the drive alive.
Vikings 12, Lions 10-
Ryan Longwell’s field goal with 9 seconds left kept Detroit winless. A questionable pass interference penalty helped put Minnesota in position for the winning kick.
dinals 30, Cowboys 24, OT
Sean Morey blocked Mat McBriar’s punt, then Monty Beisel scooped up the ball and scored from 3 yards to give the Cardinals a 30-24 overtime victory over the Dallas Cowboys.
