ALLEN PARK, Mich. (AP) -The Detroit Lions signed running back Aveion Cason and cut wide receiver Brandon Middleton on Wednesday.
Cason, who was released by Detroit just before the season started, provides needed depth because backup T.J. Duckett (ankle) was injured in the win over Oakland and running back Kevin Jones (foot) is slowly working his way back into playing shape.
Middleton was not active against the Raiders, and was one of the final players to make Detroit’s team.
In Cason’s career, he has run for 517 yards and three touchdowns and has 499 yards receiving with two scores with Detroit, Dallas and St. Louis.
