MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) - Sheriff's deputies in West Virginia say former NFL defensive back and kick returner Fulton Walker Jr. is recovering from injuries after he was beaten during home-invasion robbery earlier this week.
Walker was punched in the face, struck in the head and fell down in gravel several times while trying to escape an assault by two men who entered his Martinsburg home and stole a handgun. Berkeley County Lt. Gary Harmison says the two men, who were armed with a sawed-off shotgun, were arrested shortly after the robbery.
Walker was a defensive back at West Virginia University from 1977 to 1980 and was drafted in the sixth round in 1981 by the Miami Dolphins. He played there until 1984, and then for the Los Angeles Raiders the following year.
