ALLEN PARK, Mich. (AP) -Detroit Lions reserve quarterback Drew Stanton is expected to miss the first two games of the regular season after spraining his thumb in practice.
Stanton is Detroit’s third-string quarterback behind Jon Kitna and Dan Orlovsky. He was injured Thursday and is expected to be in a cast for four weeks. He’ll miss the final two preseason games and the start of the regular season.
In the first two exhibition games, he completed 7 of 8 passes for 85 yards and threw a touchdown.
The former Michigan State star missed his rookie season in 2007 with a knee injury.
