FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. (AP) – The shadow of Tony Gonzalez is following Levine Toilolo through the Atlanta Falcons’ training camp.
Toilolo, the second-year tight end from Stanford, has been a player to watch in camp. He has the difficult assignment of replacing Gonzalez, a certain future Hall of Famer.
The Falcons have tried to take pressure off Toilolo. Quarterback Matt Ryan says no one player can replace Gonzalez and Toilolo will have help at the position.
The team added some veteran help in the offseason including Bear Pascoe, who made six starts for the New York Giants last season.
Toilolo remains the favorite to start. He says the challenge of following Gonzalez sticks ”at the back of your mind.”
