RENTON, Wash. (AP) - The San Francisco 49ers selected offensive tackle Carter Bykowski out of Iowa State with the second of their three seventh-round picks in the NFL draft Saturday.
Bykowksi, the No. 246 overall selection, joins an established offensive line with the 49ers that includes starting tackles Joe Staley and Anthony Davis. S Bykowksi will have an opportunity to earn a reserve role with the 49ers, who carried no offensive tackles other than Staley and Davis on their 53-man roster last season.
The Seahawks also picked New Hampshire defensive tackle Jared Smith in the seventh round, but plan on moving him to the offensive line. Last year, J.R. Sweezy started a few games at guard for Seattle after making the switch.
