KIRKLAND, Wash. (AP) -Marcus Trufant and the Seahawks have agreed to a multiyear deal that will keep the Pro Bowl cornerback under contract with Seattle beyond 2008.
A team spokesman said a news conference scheduled for Wednesday afternoon was to announce Trufant’s new deal.
The Seahawks had designated Trufant as their franchise player for this year and were mandated to offer him a one-year tender worth a guaranteed $9,465,000, the average of the top five salaries for cornerbacks in the league. Trufant had been free to negotiate with other teams in free agency that began March 1.
