NEW YORK (AP) – New York Jets general manager John Idzik says the team is taking a ”judicious and selective” approach in free agency, but adds that he thinks ”we’ve been productive.”
Despite some criticisms from fans and media that the Jets have not fared well since the NFL’s free agency period began, Idzik insists during a conference call Thursday that the Jets don’t look at it as ”missed opportunities.”
Free agent quarterback Michael Vick is scheduled to meet with the Jets on Friday, but Idzik would not discuss a potential signing.
New York has signed wide receiver Eric Decker and right tackle Breno Giacomini, but have lost out on several chances – including Darrelle Revis and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie – to upgrade at cornerback.
