49ers vs. Rams Prediction
Are the red-hot San Francisco 49ers a great bet to beat the L.A. Rams and cover the spread today when the two teams meet at 4:25 p.m. ET?
Who Oddsmakers Like: San Francisco. According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the 49ers are 4.5-point road favorites to beat the Rams, who opened as 6-point favorites before Sean McVay announced that most of his starters will sit. The total, meanwhile, sits at 43.5 points after hitting the board at that same number.
Who the Public Likes: As of Sunday morning, 76% of betting tickets are on the 49ers to cover the spread and 90% of the money is also on San Francisco.
Who the Trends Like: The 49ers are 4-0 against the spread in the last four meetings between these two teams but the underdog is 4-0 against the number in the last four meetings and the home team has covered in four of the last five in this series. The over, meanwhile, is 5-2 in the last seven meetings between these two teams when the Rams are the host.
Who We Like: San Francisco. This is one of the my favorite plays of the day, although I admit I hate that the line has continued to climb since Friday. Hopefully you got the 49ers a couple of days ago and aren’t having to pay a premium on them today.
The Rams will sit quarterback Jared Goff, running back Todd Gurley, receiver Cooper Cupp, left tackle Andrew Whitworth, center John Sullivan, stud defensive tackle Aaron Donald, starting guard Rodger Saffold and starting middle linebacker Alec Ogletree. Thus, the Rams are basically treating today like it’s a fourth preseason game.
The Niners, meanwhile, are the hottest team in the NFL thanks to Jimmy Garoppolo, who is completing 69 percent of his passes for 1,268 yards, an 8.7 yards per attempt average, and 11 touchdowns. Lay the points.
