Game Info
Matchup: Chargers (7-7) at Jets (5-9)
TV: CBS, 1:00 p.m. ET
Line: Chargers -6.5
ODDS: According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the over/under currently sits at 42.5 points after hitting the board at 42.5. The Jets, meanwhile, are 6.5-point home underdogs to beat the Chargers, who opened as 7.5-point road favorites before the line was bet down.
PUBLIC BETTING: As of this writing, 59% of betting tickets are on the Chargers to cover the point spread and a whopping 86% of the money is also on L.A.
INJURY REPORT: Keenan Allen (back) is probable to play on Sunday for the Chargers but Corey Liuget (knee) is doubtful and Russell Okung (knee) is questionable. Both tight end Hunter Henry (kidney) and linebacker Denzel Perryman (hamstring) are out.
On the other side, quarterback Josh McCown will miss the rest of the season for the Jets due to a broken hand so Bryce Petty will make another start. Leonard Williams (concussion) and Muhammad Wilkerson (undisclosed) are both questionable for Sunday.
OUR PREDICTION: The under is 5-0 in the Chargers’ last five road games, are 4-0 in their last four games overall, and is 8-1 in their last nine conference games. In their last 14 games after allowing more than 350 total yards in their previous game is 12-2 and in the Chargers’ last 26 games played in December, the under is 19-6-1.
On the other side, the under is 7-2 in the Jets’ last nine games after allowing more than 30 points in their previous game. With Petty under center, the Jets offense will be hard-pressed to move the ball consistently, especially against a Chargers defense that boasts two nasty pass-rushers and a sound secondary.
