Panthers vs. Giants Free Pick
Will this be the week that the last remaining unbeaten team falls in the NFL?
The Panthers are 4-point road favorites today versus the Giants according to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI. With the kickoff set for 1:00PM ET, the over/under currently sits at 48 points.
Carolina is the lone remaining unbeaten in the NFL, sitting with a record of 13-0. The Panthers are also banged up, as running back Jonathan Stewart has already been ruled out for today’s game due to a foot injury. Tight end Greg Olsen also suffered a knee injury in the team’s 38-0 thrashing of the Falcons last week and while he’s probable today, he could be limited.
Don’t underestimate the loss of Stewart, who has rushed for 989 yards and six touchdowns this season. Cam Newton is still a threat with his legs, but the Panthers are the league’s No. 2 rushing offense and will now have to rely on Fozzy Whittaker and Cameron Artis-Payne to complement Newton on the ground.
Statically, it makes no sense to back the Giants. That said, New York has a habit of playing up to its competition and is still plenty motivated with the NFC East still up for grabs. This game has a similar feel to when the Patriots rolled into East Rutherford back in November. The Pats won that game 27-26, but it took several Giants miscues in the fourth quarter to allow New England to escape with a victory. Nevertheless, the G-Men covered easily as a 7-point home dog.
New York may not win the game outright but Eli Manning and Co. can certainly keep the score within a field goal at home.
