Which teams will clinch AFC wild cards?
The Chiefs, Jets and Steelers are all fighting for playoff berths in the AFC but which team has the best odds to make the postseason in 2015-16?
Oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv currently list Kansas City’s odds of making the playoffs at -1200. The odds that the Chiefs won’t qualify for the playoffs are +600, which represent the best odds out of the three teams to make the postseason.
If the playoffs were to start tomorrow in the NFL, the Chiefs and Jets would clinch wild card berths while the Steelers would be on the outside looking in. Kansas City is 8-5 and wins tie breakers over the Jets and Steelers based on having the best win percentage in conference games. The Jets (8-5) also win a tiebreaker of the Steelers (8-5) based on winning percentage in conference games.
As for the Steelers, their odds to make the playoffs stand at -350, while their odds to miss the postseason are +275. The Jets have odds of +170 to make the playoffs and -250 to fail to qualify for the postseason, which are the worst odds of the three teams listed by Bovada.lv.
Will the Chiefs finish the regular season with 10 consecutive wins? It seems unlikely best on the odds, but certainly not impossible. Kansas City has rattled off seven straight wins and faces the Ravens, Browns and Raiders to close out the season. According to Bovada.lv oddsmakers, the Chiefs have odds of +100 to finish the regular season with 10 straight wins, and -140 odds to come up short along the way.
