Washington Redskins Fantasy Spin
Derrius Guice rushed 10 times for 129 yards and two touchdowns in the Redskins' Week 13 win over the Panthers. Guice was phenomenal against a porous Panthers run defense. He showed a ton of strength while running through arm tackles and had enough wiggle in space to create big plays. Guice's two touchdowns were both at the goal-line, which is a good sign that he's getting those looks over Adrian Peterson. AP was also fantastic today, rushing for 99 yards and a score on a team-high 13 carries. This is still a committee backfield and will be hard to fully trust given what we've seen from the offense. Guice will be a boom-or-bust flex play in Green Back next week. Expect him to handle 8-14 touches then.
Green Bay Packers Fantasy Spin
Aaron Rodgers completed 21-of-33 passes for 243 yards, four touchdowns and zero interceptions in the Packers' 31-13, Week 13 win over the Giants. The performance marked his first time with threw multiple scores in a game since Week 8. Rodgers was in control for most of the afternoon in the snow. His touchdowns went to Davante Adams (x2), Allen Lazard and Marcedes Lewis. The latter score in particular was impressive considering Rodgers had a defender all over him as he was making the throw from the one-yard line. The soon to be 36-year-old QB added 24 yards on the ground. Rodgers has another smash spot in Week 14 at home against the Redskins. Treat him as a high-end QB1.
NFL Betting Trends
The Redskins have covered the spread in four of their last five games as an underdog have posted a 5-2 record against the number in their last five games as a road dog.
The Packers are 4-1 against the spread in their last five games as a favorite but are just 1-4-1 against the number in their last six games after scoring more than 30 points in their previous contest.
The Redskins won two straight games but I’m not buying any sort of revival in D.C. A trip to Lambeau Field should bring Washington back to reality. Green Bay can be had on the ground, as the unit ranks 28th in Football Outsiders’ DVOA run defense metric, so there is some concern Washington can keep the game close with a strong dose of Guice and Adrian Peterson. That said, Packers DC Mike Pettine should be able to sell out this week because QB Dwayne Haskins isn’t going to beat them. The Redskins have largely won in spite of their rookie quarterback the past two weeks and if we can get a turnover or two out of the former Ohio State product, the Pack should cover the big number.
