49ers vs. Bears Pick
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Chicago is favored at home today, as the Bears are getting odds of -3 points against the 49ers. The over/under total for the contest has been set at 41 points. Chicago has won two of the last three meetings with the 49ers, covering the spread in those wins. The public betting in this game has 56 percent going on the 49ers on the road. Today’s game takes place from Soldier Field in Chicago, Illinois and will air live on CBS.
Chicago is coming off a 31-3 loss at Philadelphia last week for its fourth straight loss. The Bears are now 3-8 on the season and 5-5-1 against the spread. Chicago is 0-3-1 ATS in their last four games. The Bears are struggling on offense, putting up 16.1 points and 304.6 yards per game. Mitchell Trubisky has thrown for 1,135 yards and four touchdowns to go with four interceptions. He has also run for 175 yards. Jordan Howard is the leading rusher with 847 yards and five scores while Tarik Cohen has 262 rushing yards with 267 receiving yards. Defensively, Chicago is allowing 22.9 points and 345.5 yards per game.
San Francisco is 1-10 on the season following a 24-13 loss to the Seahawks at home last week. The 49ers are 5-6 against the spread on the season, but just 1-4 ATS in their last five games. San Francisco is putting up 17 points and 344.7 yards per game this season on offense. The team is hoping that Jimmy Garoppolo will give them a boost this week as he makes his first start for the team since being traded. Carlos Hyde is the team’s leading rusher with 639 yards and four touchdowns while Marquise Goodwin is the leading receiver with 27 catches for 578 yards and a score. Defensively, San Francisco is allowing 25.8 points and 385.1 yards per game.
Trubisky has showed signs of being a competent quarterback at times this season, especially at home. The problem is, Jimmy Garoppolo is a quarterback that we don’t know what to expect things from. He could be light years better for the 49ers than what they have been using. However, he is still relatively new to San Francisco, so the playbook may be dumbed down for this game. Chicago still has a respectable defense, something San Francisco can’t say. I think the Bears do enough to help their defense and grab the cover.
