Vikings vs. Seahawks Total Prediction

Minnesota Vikings vs. Seattle Seahawks, 12/2/19 NFL Week 13 Predictions

The Monday Night Football matchup should be a good one, as the Seahawks will host the Vikings at 8:15 p.m. ET in a battle of NFC title hopefuls. With the number climbing from 48.5 up to 50, should bettors follow the line movement and take the over?

Minnesota Vikings Fantasy Spin

Adam Thielen (hamstring) practiced again Friday. Thielen said the hamstring is "getting there." Coming off the Vikings' bye, Thielen is trending in the right direction for Monday night's showdown with Seattle. He's followed up a streak of 87 straight starts by missing three of his last four contests with a nagging hamstring injury. Bisi Johnson would see his target share reduced upon Thielen's return.

Seattle Seahawks Fantasy Spin

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said there's "no reason not to get [Rashaad Penny] back in there" in Week 13 against the Vikings. "Chris [Carson] is a guy who is a big part of our team and we’ll do everything we can for him," Carroll said following Carson's fourth lost fumble on the year. "Competition is a beautiful thing and no reason not to get Penny back in there next week. We'll get those guys hammering away." Penny (14/129/1) played a season-high 49 percent of Seattle's offensive snaps on Sunday as Carson coughed up the ball twice in one game. Presumably headed for a timeshare over the team's final five games, Penny is suddenly a RB3/FLEX viable option in fantasy while Carson's value sinks to a similar (if not worse) outlook.

NFL Betting Trends

The under is 9-3 in the Vikings’ last 12 conference matchups and is 7-1 in their last eight games played in the month of December.

The over is 9-3 in the Seahawks’ last 12 home games versus an opponent with a winning record on the road.

I see this turning into a shootout in Seattle. The Seahawks played well defensively last week in Philadelphia, but that came against a struggling Eagles offense that was also missing several key players on that side of the ball. Seattle’s defense also made some highlight-reel plays defensively in San Francisco three weeks ago in an upset of the 49ers, but that unit didn’t necessarily play well. Meanwhile, Minnesota hasn’t been the same defense that we’ve become accustomed to watching under coach Mike Zimmer, specifically in the secondary. With the over 5-1 in the last six meetings between these two teams in Seattle, as well as 5-2 in the Seahawks’ last seven home games, I envision plenty of scoring on Monday night.
