Thanksgiving trend favors Pack tonight

Thanksgiving betting trend favors Packers to cover the spread vs. Bears

An interesting Thanksgiving betting trend favors the Packers in their game tonight versus the Bears at 8:30PM ET.

View NFL Week 12 Odds notes that in the last 10 years, favorites of a touchdown or more on Thanksgiving are 10-2 against the spread. That trend fits Green Bay, which is currently an 8-point favorite over Chicago according to oddsmakers at online sports book BetDSI.

Last year, the Lions were a 7.5-point home favorite on Thanksgiving Day and covered in a 34-17 victory over the Bears. In 2013, Detroit also covered as a 7-point favorite in a 40-10 blowout of Green Bay, but Dallas failed to cover as a 10-point home favorite versus Oakland.

In 2012, the Patriots covered as a 7-point road favorite versus the Jets in the infamous "Butt fumble" game (a 49-19 victory for New England). In 2011, the Cowboys once again failed to cash as a 7-plus favorite in a 20-19 win over the Dolphins. In 2010, the Patriots successfully covered as a 7-point favorite in a 45-24 blowout of the Lions, while the Jets covered as a 9.5-point home favorite in a 26-10 win over the Bengals.
