Broncos vs. Bears Free Pick
Brock Osweiler will make his first career start when the Broncos visit the Bears at 1:00PM ET today.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Bears are now 1-point home underdogs after opening as a 2-point dog for today's game against the Broncos. As for the total, it opened at 43 but has been bet all the way down to 40.5.
Denver heads into today's game with a 7-2 record and is 5-4 against the spread, which includes a 3-2 ATS mark on the road. Chicago, meanwhile, is 4-5 straight up and 5-4 against the spread after covering back-to-back road games the past two weeks. That said, the Bears are just 1-3 against the spread at home this season.
Osweiler needs to protect the football, take what Chicago's defense gives him, and get the ball into playmakers like Demaryius Thomas. If he can do that, Denver's defense should shut down a Bears team that will likely be without Matt Forte and perhaps Alshon Jeffery, who did not practice on Friday due to a groin injury. Over the past five years, the Bears are just 3-10 against the spread as a home underdog. The narrative will be about Osweiler replacing Peyton Manning (and John Fox facing his former team), but this game will be won by Denver's defense.
