With a new QB under center, will the Denver Broncos be able to hang with the Chicago Bears when the two meet today at 1PM ET on CBS?
According to oddsmakers at MyBookie.ag, Denver is a slight favorite on the road, as the Broncos are getting odds of -1 point against the Bears. The over/under total for the contest has been set at 40.5 points. The home team has won three of the last four in this series and the Bears have covered the spread in four straight against the Broncos. These two have hit the under in five of their last six meetings.
Denver is 7-2 on the season, 5-4 against the spread and 5-3-1 with the under. The Broncos are coming off a 29-13 loss to the Chiefs last week for their second straight loss. In the defeat, Peyton Manning was benched after throwing four interceptions. He won’t be playing today due to some injuries which means Brock Osweiler gets his first start. Manning has thrown for 2,180 yards and nine touchdowns this season, but has 17 interceptions. The Denver offense is averaging just 22.8 points and 331.7 yards per game on the season. However, its defense is third in the NFL in scoring (18.7 ppg allowed) and first in total defense (277.3 ypg). The defense is led by Brandon Marshall, who has 71 tackles with 1.5 sacks.
Chicago is 4-5 on the year, 5-4 against the spread and 5-4 with the under. The Bears are coming off a 37-13 win at St. Louis for their second straight victory. Chicago is now averaging 22.1 points and 352.7 yards per game on offense, while the defense is giving up 26 points and 335.6 yards per contest. Jay Cutler has thrown for 2,045 yards and 13 touchdowns this season while Jeremy Langford has run for 225 yards and four touchdowns while filling in for the injured Matt Forte the last few weeks. Langford also has 210 receiving yards. The Chicago defense is led by Pernell McPhee, who has 35 tackles with five sacks and one interception.
