Bears vs. Giants Prediction
Will the New York Giants add to their win and cover streak today when they host the Chicago Bears at 1PM ET?
According to the oddsmakers at BetDSI, New York is the favorite at home, as the Giants are getting odds of -7.5 points against the Bears. The over/under total is currently listed at 43 points. The Bears have won three of the last five in this series but the Giants have covered the spread in three straight meetings.
The Giants are coming off a 21-20 win over the Bengals on Monday night to expand their win streak to four games. New York is now 6-3 on the year and 5-3-1 against the spread. They have covered in each of the four wins in this current streak. New York has been led mostly by its improved defense. The unit is giving up just 20.4 points per game despite allowing 370.3 yards per contest. They have a great run defense, giving up only 92.1 yards per game but are susceptible to the pass, allowing 278 yards through the air per contest. Offensively, the Giants are putting up 20.2 points and 349.9 yards per game. They have one of the league’s worst rushing attacks, averaging just 74.2 yards per game. That puts a lot on quarterback Eli Manning, who has thrown for 2,481 yards and 15 touchdowns to help lead the offense. However, he also has 10 interceptions, as he is prone to some poor throws. Odell Beckham Jr. is not surprisingly his leading target, as he has 54 catches for 773 yards and six touchdowns. Beckham has been much more effective at home, catching 37 passes for 572 yards and five touchdowns.
The Bears are coming off a 36-10 loss to the Bucs last week to drop to 2-7 on the season. They are also just 2-7 against the spread, failing to cover in all of their losses. The Chicago offense is a mess, as the group averages just 15.7 points per game this season. Jay Cutler missed a chunk of the season with an injury but is back. He has thrown for 807 yards and three touchdowns with four interceptions. Making matters tougher for him is top receiver Alshon Jeffery was suspended four games this week for a violation of the NFL’s PED policy. Zach Miller is now the team’s leading receiver with 44 catches for 425 yards and three touchdowns. Jordan Howard has run for 605 yards and two touchdowns to lead the offense. Chicago actually has a respectable defense despite their record. The Bears give up just 23.9 points and 358.6 yards per game. They are also tough against the run, allowing only 98.4 yards per game. They have 24 sacks as a team in 2016. Willie Young is leading the team with six sacks, but is questionable for this game with an ankle injury.

The Giants are rolling and have a lot of confidence right now. It doesn’t take much to get by Chicago either, so as long as New York can continue to play well on defense, it should cover today. The Bears have few playmakers on offense with Jeffery out of the lineup and Cutler is turnover prone. Look for the Giants defense to keep Chicago from scoring much while Eli hits enough big passes to earn a cover.
