Redskins vs. Falcons Spread Prediction
The Washington Redskins are currently in first place in the NFC East and they seemingly have a great matchup versus a banged-up Atlanta Falcons defense on Sunday. Will the Redskins cover as a small home favorite?
Game Snapshot

Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetNow.eu, the Redskins are 2.5-point favorites to beat the Falcons. The total, meanwhile, sits at 47.5 points. As of this writing, 51% of the public betting tickets are on the Redskins to cover the point spread.
Atlanta Falcons
Falcons CB Robert Alford (ankle) is out for Week 9 against the Redskins. It’s unclear when Alford was injured, as he played every snap Week 7 and the Falcons just had a bye. Alford is the Falcons’ starter opposite Desmond Trufant but has been terrible this season. Alford is Pro Football Focus’ No. 109 cover corner, dead last among 109 qualifiers. Isaiah Oliver is next man up.
Washington Redskins
Redskins LT Trent Williams (thumb) is expected to miss “about a month.” Williams underwent surgery on Thursday. The four-week timetable is a blow to the offensive line, but the Redskins have been one of the top pass protecting teams in the league. Ty Nsekhe will fill in on the blindside until Williams returns.
NFL Betting Trends
Atlanta
The Falcons are 1-4 against the spread in their last five games overall but are 4-1 ATS in their last five games played in November.
Washington
The Redskins are 6-1 against the spread in their last seven home games and are 5-1 ATS in their last six conference matchups.
Prediction
I hate this matchup for the Falcons and love it for the Redskins. Atlanta can’t slow down opposing running backs and Adrian Peterson is the fifth-leading rusher in the NFL. The Redskins are going to pound the ball on the ground, eat clock and force long drives against this injury-riddled Falcons defense. On the other side, Matt Ryan and Co. have never been as dangerous on the road as they are at home and Washington has an underrated defense. This is one of my favorite plays of the week.
NFL Week 9 Prediction: Washington Redskins -2.5
