Houston Texans Fantasy Spin
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport confirms J.J. Watt (torn pec) is out for the season. Watt’s MRI confirmed he suffered a torn pec on a tackle of Josh Jacobs. It’s a devastating blow for the Texans, who also have Johnathan Joseph (shoulder, hamstring), Bradley Roby (hamstring), Tashaun Gipson (shoulder), and Lonnie Johnson dealing with injuries. Watt has now ended three of the last four seasons on IR. Charles Omenihu and Jacob Martin will pick up Watt’s snaps.
Jacksonville Jaguars Fantasy Spin
Dede Westbrook (shoulder) was limited for Wednesday’s practice. Westbrook was forced from Sunday’s game against the Jets due to the shoulder injury he’s battled the past two weeks. Even if he’s able to suit up, expectations need to be tempered since the injury has limited him to a total 6/103 on 10 targets in Jacksonville’s last two games. D.J. Chark and Chris Conley would be direct beneficiaries if Westbrook doesn’t suit up on Sunday against the Texans.
Houston
The under is 5-2 in the Texans’ last seven games after accumulating more than 250 yards passing in their previous game.
Jacksonville
The under is 7-2 in the Jaguars’ last nine games after accumulating more than 250 yards passing in their previous game.
NFL Week 9 Prediction
The under has cashed in four of the last five meetings between these two teams, is 4-1 in the Texans’ last five games versus AFC South rivals and is 5-2 in their last seven conference matchups. On the other side, the under is 4-1 in the Jaguars’ last five divisional games and is 5-0 in their last five games versus an opponent with a winning record.
