Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers at BetNow.eu, the Bears are the clear favorite in this game, as Chicago is getting odds of -7.5 points against the Jets. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 45 points. The public betting for this game currently has 76 percent going on the Bears at home. This information is subject to change, however, so be sure to check out our NFL Public Betting Page for updated figures on the game.
Jets end win streak
The Jets had their two-game win streak come to an end last weekend in a 37-17 loss at home to the Vikings. The Jets are now 3-4 on the season, 3-4 against the spread and 5-2 with the over. The Jets have only covered the spread in their wins.
New York is averaging 26 points per game on offense, but posting just 343.6 yards per contest. Injuries have started to pile up on offense as Bilal Powell went on IR with a neck injury and receivers Robby Anderson and Quincy Enunwa are both dealing with ankle injuries. Enunwa is out this week while Anderson is questionable. Sam Darnold has thrown for 1,552 yards with 10 touchdowns, but also has 10 interceptions. Isaiah Crowell is leading the offense with 459 rushing yards and five touchdowns.
Bears drop two straight
The Bears have lost two straight since coming off the bye, falling in OT to the Dolphins and then falling to the Patriots at home last week. Chicago is now 3-3 on the season, 3-3 against the spread and 4-2 with the over.
Chicago has been pretty good at defense thanks to its pass rush. The Bears are giving up 22.3 points and 368.8 yards per game. Their run defense is allowing just 87.5 yards per contest. The unit has 19 sacks and has created 17 turnovers. On offense, Chicago is putting up 28.3 points and 396.3 yards per contest. Mitchell Trubisky has thrown for 1,594 yards and 13 touchdowns with six interceptions. The team could be without top receiver Allen Robinson, who is dealing with a groin injury and listed as questionable. Jordan Howard remains the leading rusher with just 311 yards and two scores.
NFL Betting Trends
The Jets are 3-8-1 against the spread in their last 12 road games, but 8-1-1 ATS in their last 10 games in October.
The Bears are 4-1 against the spread in their last five games following a loss and 11-4-1 ATS in their last 16 home games.
I don’t love such a big spread in any game, but I do think the Bears will roll here. The Jets are really banged up at the skill positions and just don’t have the talent to make plays against Chicago. Darnold has been turnover prone and facing a unit that forces a lot of turnovers. The Bears offense may face some challenges from the Jets, but Trubisky is showing improvement as a QB and I think he can lead the Bears to enough points to cover on Sunday.
NFL Prediction: Chicago Bears -7.5
