Seattle Seahawks Fantasy Spin
Seahawks acquired S Quandre Diggs from the Lions in exchange for a 2020 fifth-round pick. Seattle is also sending a 2021 seventh-rounder Detroit’s way. With the Seahawks dealing with injury issues at safety, the Lions are surprisingly shipping their starting safety westward. Diggs has had injury issues of his own, playing very little since Week 4 because of hand and hamstring problems. He was back on the field for Week 7. A 2015 sixth-rounder, Diggs used to have the air of an ascending player in Motown, but Matt Patricia’s staff had clearly seen all it needed to. Diggs should immediately assume starting-level snaps in Seattle, while Tracy Walker, Tavon Wilson and Will Harris will hold down the fort in Detroit.
Atlanta Falcons Fantasy Spin
Matt Ryan (ankle) remained sidelined for Thursday’s practice. Desperate coach Dan Quinn has said Ryan will play Sunday, but back-to-back DNPs have the situation getting dicier. Even a “limited” day Friday would have Ryan fully on track to start. The 1-6 Falcons’ season is long since over, but prideful Ryan could also be looking to keep his consecutive games played (154) streak alive. It’s the fifth-longest streak in NFL history. Atlanta heads on bye for Week 9.
NFL Betting Trends
Seattle
The under is 5-1 in the Seahawks’ last six road games versus a team with a losing home record.
Atlanta
The over is 5-1-1 in the Falcons’ last seven games after accumulating less than 250 total yards in their previous game.
Prediction
The Seahawks might get into the 40s versus this hapless Falcons defense that is poorly coached and poorly schemed. Russell Wilson is going to take Atlanta behind the woodshed, especially after turning in the worst start of the season a week ago in a loss to the Ravens. The Falcons have no pass rush because Dan Quinn can’t coach up his players despite being a former defensive line coach and the secondary is filled with players drafted by Thomas Dimitroff, meaning they can’t play. The over is 7-1 in the last eight meetings between these two teams and should hit again on Sunday.
