Ravens vs. Jets Prediction
Will it be the Baltimore Ravens or New York Jets snapping their current losing streak when they meet up today at 1PM ET?
According to the oddsmakers at BetDSI, the Jets are the slight favorite at home today, as they are getting odds of -2 points against the Ravens. The over/under total is currently listed at just 41 points. Baltimore has won nine straight over the Jets, going 9-1 against the spread in the last 10 meetings as well.
After losing their fourth straight last Monday night, 28-3 to Arizona, the Jets have elected to bench Ryan Fitzpatrick and go with Geno Smith under center. Fitzpatrick has thrown 11 interceptions and completed only 57 percent of his passes while leading the Jets to a 1-5 overall record and 1-5 mark against the spread. Smith takes over an offense that is averaging only 15.8 points and 337.8 yards per game. Along with a pass game that is struggling, New York is putting up only 92.5 rushing yards per game. Not helping matters is Nick Mangold (knee) and Ryan Clady (shoulder) both being listed as questionable to play today. The New York defense hasn’t been much better than the offense in 2016, giving up 27.3 points and 389.5 yards per game.
The Ravens find themselves in a somewhat similar situation to the Jets, as they have lost three straight to fall to 3-3 on the year. Baltimore is just 2-4 against the spread in 2016, failing to cover in four straight games. After a promising start, the Baltimore offense has started to stumble, averaging just 19.5 points per game on the season. Joe Flacco has thrown just five touchdown passes this year and is now battling a shoulder injury. He could be without some key weapons today as well, as Steve Smith (ankle) is doubtful to play while Kamar Aiken (thigh) is questionable. The Ravens may turn to Terrance West, who has emerged as the feature back over the last three games. Baltimore also may rely a lot on its defense, which is giving up just 19.2 points and 307.5 yards per game this season. The Ravens have the top run defense in the NFL, allowing only 69.7 yards per game.

The Ravens should have a great recipe to steal a road win today. I can’t see this Jets team being able to run the ball on the league’s best defense, so that should force Geno Smith to have to beat the Ravens with his arm. I just don’t see that happening for a guy that hasn’t seen much action in over a year. While the Baltimore offense isn’t lightning the world on fire, it probably won’t have to score much to win this game. Look for the Ravens defense to set the tone and carry them to a win.
