49ers vs. Redskins Week 7 Prediction
The undefeated San Francisco 49ers will look to make it six in a row on Sunday when they visit the Redskins in Landover, MD at 1:00 p.m. ET. While the Niners should win, the question for bettors is: Will Kyle Shanahan and Co. cover as a double-digit favorite?

San Francisco 49ers Fantasy Spin
George Kittle (groin) returned to 49ers practice on Thursday. “They just say that (injury report) to mess with you guys,” Kittle said to the assembled media on Thursday. Needless to say, it doesn’t sound serious. Kittle is a clear-cut top-two play for Week 7 vs. the Redskins’ disappeared defense.
Washington Redskins Fantasy Spin
Chris Thompson (toe) is out for Week 7 against the 49ers. This means the Redskins will be using Adrian Peterson, Wendell Smallwood, and unproven backs like Craig Reynolds this week against one of the best defenses in football. Consider Thompson week to week with his turf toe injury. Thompson is leaving 4.5 receptions per game on the table for other Redskins pass-catchers.
NFL Betting Trends
San Francisco
The road team is 4-0-1 against the spread in the last five meetings between these two teams while the Niners have covered the spread in four of their last five trips to Landover. They’re also 3-1-1 against the spread in their last five games versus the Redskins overall.
Washington
The underdog is just 2-2-5 against the spread in the last nine meetings between these two teams while the Redskins are winless against the number in their last five home games and their last five games overall, respectively.
Prediction
Washington ranks 20th in Football Outsiders’ run defense DVOA and has allowed at least 4.1 yards per carry against every opponent this season. That’s a bad sign for their matchup today against Matt Bredia and Tevin Coleman. The Niners will look use a run-heavy approach to build a lead and then perhaps take some shots deep to really open up the scoring. Washington has zero pass rush so Jimmy Garoppolo shouldn’t have any issues picking apart a bad Redskins defensive backfield. I don’t typically like laying double digits on the road with a NFL team but I’ll make the exception here. I like the 49ers to roll and avoid a potential letdown spot.
