Dolphins vs. Falcons Prediction
Now healthy, will the Falcons rout the Dolphins when the non-conference foes meet today in Atlanta at 1:00PM ET?
The Odds: According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Falcons are 13.5-point home favorites to beat the Dolphins, who opened as 9-point underdogs. As for the total, the number hit the board at 47.5 but has been bet down to 45.5 at the majority of online sports books.
Miami Dolphins: The Dolphins are 10-2 against the spread in their last 12 games after allowing less than 250 total yards in their previous game and are 7-3 against the number in their last 10 games following an ATS win. That said, they’re also 3-8 against the number in their last 11 games versus a team with a winning record and are 2-7 at the betting window in their last nine games after accumulating less than 250 total yards in their previous game.
Atlanta Falcons: The Falcons are 5-1 against the spread in their last six games following an ATS loss, are 4-1 against the spread in their last five games after accumulating more than 350 total yards in their previous game, and are 4-1 at the betting window in their last five games coming off a bye. Where they have struggled, however, is coming off a loss. They’re 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games following a defeat. As of this writing, 65% of public bettors are backing the Falcons at the betting window today.
WHO COVERS: The last time we saw the Falcons they were losing to the Bills as a home favorite. But they were without starting right tackle Ryan Schrader, their top pass-rusher Vic Beasley, and starting free safety Ricardo Allen. During the game, they also lost Julio Jones to a hip flexor injury in the second quarter and fellow wideout Mohamed Sanu to a hamstring injury early in the third. Jones, Schrader, Beasley and Allen should all return this week to face a Dolphins team that has been horrible offensively this season. Miami ranks dead last in total yards, passing yards and points scored, and is second-to-last in rushing yards allowed. The Dolphins have been okay defensively, but are weak in the secondary. Matt Ryan and Co. should take advantage of that weakness today. (If you’re looking for a more stats-driven breakdown of this matchup, check out our advanced betting report.)
