Rams vs. Lions Pick
What will prevail when the Detroit Lions host the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday at 1PM ET, the offense, or the defense?
According to the oddsmakers at BetDSI, the Lions are the slight favorite at home, as they are getting odds of -3 points against the Rams. The over/under total for the game is listed at 44 points. The home team has won six straight in this series and the two have hit the over in four of their last six encounters.
The Lions are coming off a 24-23 win over the previously unbeaten Eagles last week. Detroit is now 2-3 on the season and 3-2 with the over. The Lions are usually known for strong offense, but the group is averaging only 23.8 points and 365.4 yards per game this season. The defense is giving up 25 points and 388.4 yards per game. Injuries have been piling up for Detroit this year as defensive end Ezekiel Ansah is questionable with an ankle injury while DT Haloti Ngata is out for a few weeks with a shoulder injury. On offense, tight end Eric Ebron is out with a knee injury while running back Theo Riddick is questionable with a hip injury. The team will be relying heavily on Matthew Stafford, who has thrown for 1,378 yards and 10 touchdowns this season. He has went to Marvin Jones often, who has caught 27 passes for 519 yards and three scores.
The Rams are coming off a 30-19 loss to the Bills at home last week. Los Angeles is now 3-2 on the season and 3-2 with the under. The reason the Rams are hitting the under is due to an offense that is producing only 16.4 points per game. Case Keenum has thrown for 1,096 yards and four TDs this season, but also has five interceptions. Todd Gurley continues to struggle somewhat, as he has run for 288 yards and three touchdowns. The Rams have a respectable defense, though the unit is giving up 21.2 points and 377.8 yards per game. The group has a couple of injuries along the line as Robert Quinn and Michael Brockers are both questionable for Sunday’s contest.

The Lions have been struggling with protection up front and had just 11 yards for most of the second half in last week’s win. They are likely to face some trouble against the Rams and Aaron Donald up front without much of a run game. The Rams aren’t going to light up the scoreboard a lot either, as the Lions expect Ansah back, which should help strengthen the other positions as well. Look for this game to be a big of a grind with both teams fighting to get to 20 points.
