2015 NFL Week 5 Saints vs. Eagles Picks & Predictions

Did oddsmakers set the total too high in today's matchup between the New Orleans Saints and Philadelphia Eagles at 1:00PM ET?

According to oddsmakers from online sports book GT Bets, the Eagles are 6-point home favorites versus the Saints while the total currently sits at 49.5 points. New Orleans enters play with a 1-3 record and is 2-2 against the spread, while Philadelphia is also 1-3 but is just 1-3 at the betting window.

The total for this game seemingly reflects what these offenses could do, as opposed to what they've done over the first four weeks. We all know that Chip Kelly has an explosive offense when it's firing on all cylinders, but quarterback Sam Bradford's play has been sporadic and the Eagles' offensive line is decimated by injuries.

Lane Johnson, Jason peters and Allen Barbe are all banged up, while Andrew Gardner is already on injured reserve for the rest of the season. The Saints' defense has been nothing to write home about, but how are the Eagles supposed to move the ball if they can't win in the trenches offensively?

On the other side, quarterback Drew Brees displayed a gutsy performance in the team's win over the Cowboys on Sunday night but he clearly is still feeling the effects of the rotator cuff injury he suffered in Week 2. He can't throw deep, which limits the explosive plays that New Orleans can generate offensively. Plus, without Jimmy Graham, Sean Payton's offense has looked directionless at times.

Take the under.
