Broncos vs. Raiders Free Pick
In what could turn into a defensive struggle, the Oakland Raiders will host their AFC West rivals the Denver Broncos at 4:25PM ET today.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Mybookie.ag, the Raiders are 4-point home favorites versus the Broncos while the over/under currently sits at 43.5 points. Denver is a perfect 4-0 on the year and 3-1 against the spread, while Oakland is 2-2 straight up and 2-2 at the betting window.
Denver left tackle Ty Samrailo is still working his way back from a shoulder injury that he suffered a few weeks ago against the Lions and did not play last Sunday versus Minnesota. He also missed practice earlier in the week and isn't the only Broncos offensive lineman dealing with an injury, as starting guards Louis Vasquez and Evan Mathis both sat out of practice on Wednesday as well.
The Broncos haven't found any consistency in their running game and with their O-line banged up, Peyton Manning has focused on getting the ball out quickly. That has been a recipe for success for Manning, but throwing short also means fewer explosive plays and the clock consistently running assuming he's completing said quick passes.
On the other side, Denver's stout defense is going to test quarterback Derek Carr like he hasn't all season - specifically via the blitz. The Browns, with the league lead in sacks at 18 through four games, will blitz Carr more than any team has through four games. According to ESPN.com, Carr has been blitzed on just 13.4 percent of his dropbacks this season, which is a number that will change against Denver, which has 11 different players who have contributed to the team's sack total.
Look for both offenses to be bogged down today.
