Bears vs. Chiefs Free Pick
The under is a perfect 5-0 in the last five meetings between the Bears and Chiefs but should bettors buck the trend today when the two teams meet at 1:00PM ET?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Chiefs are 10-point home favorites versus the Bears while the over/under currently sits at 45 points. Chicago enters play with a 1-3 record and is 1-3 against the spread, while Kansas City is equally 1-3 both straight up and at the betting window.
There's absolutely no value for bettors when it comes to the side of this game. The Chiefs are more talented than the Bears but they're not playing well, so how smart is it to lay 10 points on a struggling team? On the other side, the Bears are talent-deficient and are struggling as well, so even a 10-point cushion doesn't feel safe.
The total is a different story. Kansas City has allowed 30 or more points in three straight games within a season for only the second time in franchise history (1987 was the other time). The Chiefs have allowed 321 yards passing in each of their last two games and while the Bears have been punchless at times offensively, they at least moved the ball somewhat a week ago in their win over the Raiders. As long as Jay Cutler plays, Chicago has a shot to put up points.
But what about the KC offense? The combined record of the Chiefs' four opponents to date is 13-3. They've simply played some tough teams and while their offense has looked directionless under Andy Reid, they at least moved the ball effectively last week before settling for seven field goals last Sunday in Cincinnati. If they can convert just half of those scoring opportunities into touchdowns instead of field goals, the over should hit today.
