Chiefs vs. Jaguars Spread Prediction
The No. 1 defense in the NFL will draw the No. 1 offense when the Jacksonville Jaguars visit the Kansas City Chiefs at 1:00 p.m. ET. Which side is the best bet?
Game Snapshot
453 Jacksonville Jaguars at 454 Kansas City Chiefs
1:00 p.m. ET, Sunday, October 7
Arrowhead Stadium, Kansas City, Missouri
Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetNow.eu, the Chiefs are 3-point favorites to beat the Jaguars. The total, meanwhile, sits at 49 points. As of this writing, 57% of the public betting tickets are on the Chiefs to cover the point spread.
Jacksonville Jaguars
T.J. Yeldon (ankle) wasn’t listed on the Jaguars’ final injury report for Week 5 against the Chiefs. Yeldon was limited on both Wednesday and Thursday before being upgraded to full participation on Friday. He might cede some passing-down work to Corey Grant, but otherwise Yeldon should see close to a full complement of snaps Sunday at Arrowhead. Leonard Fournette’s injury keeps Yeldon in the weekly RB2 mix.
Kansas City Chiefs
Sammy Watkins (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Week 5 against Jacksonville. The Chiefs limited Watkins in practice all week. Coach Andy Reid didn’t sound overly concern with his status, so it would be a surprise if Watkins didn’t play. He’ll be just a WR4 for a tough matchup with the Jaguars’ secondary.
NFL Betting Trends
Jacksonville
The Jaguars are 10-4 against the spread in their last 14 road games.
Kansas City
The Chiefs are 4-1 against the spread in their last five home games and are 4-0 against the number in their last four games overall.
Prediction
Usually, the No. 1 defense has the edge against the No. 1 offense but fade Patrick Mahomes at your own risk. The kid is special and he’s got tons of talent around him in Travis Kelce, Tyreek Hill and Kareem Hunt. Kansas City is playing on short rest but if the Chiefs can drag the Jaguars into a shootout, I like their chances to cover the number. Blake Bortles plays exceptionally well when ahead but struggles playing from behind. If the Chiefs grab the lead, I like their chances of staying unbeaten.
