The San Francisco 49ers are incredibly banged up and find themselves as double-digit underdogs heading into Sunday’s matchup with the L.A. Chargers. Is it safe to lay the points with the Bolts?

San Francisco 49ers Fantasy News & Notes
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Matt Breida (knee) is expected to play in Week 4 against the Chargers. Alfred Morris (knee) is also expected to play. Breida said he would be a game-time call after getting in just a limited session on Friday, but getting this update this early suggests he felt much better on Saturday. Breida’s fantasy stock took a hit following the Jimmy Garoppolo injury, but he is still in the RB3 conversation.
L.A. Chargers Fantasy News & Notes
Keenan Allen (knee, tooth) is expected to play in Week 4 against the 49ers. Allen got in just one limited practice this week but it doesn’t sound like it’ll matter for his availability. The Niners will quietly be without both Richard Sherman (calf) and starting S Jaquiski Tartt (shoulder), essentially becoming vulnerable against the Chargers’ explosive pass and rushing attacks. He’s undoubtedly a low-end WR1 in this matchup. Although Allen will play, second-year pro Mike Williams should carry over his sudden rapport with Philip Rivers and be considered a confident WR3/4 at home. Travis Benjamin (foot) remains questionable.
NFL Betting Trends
San Francisco
The 49ers are 1-4 against the spread in their last five games versus the Chargers.
Los Angeles
The Chargers are 9-21 against the number in their last 30 home games.
Prediction
The 49ers are incredibly banged-up. Jimmy Garoppolo tore his ACL last week, so C.J. Beathard will start under center. He’ll hand the ball off to Matt Breida and Alfred Morris, who are both dealing with injuries. Defensively, Richard Sherman (calf) and safety Jaquiski Tartt (shoulder) are both out. This is a mess in San Francisco and I’m not going to overthink this one: I’m laying the points.
