Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetNow.eu, the Falcons are 3.5-point favorites to beat the Bengals. The total, meanwhile, sits at 53 points. As of this writing, 51% of the public betting tickets are on the Falcons to cover the point spread.
Cincinnati Bengals
Joe Mixon (knee) is out for Week 4 against the Falcons. Mixon was back on the side fields at practice this week, progressing to running and cutting. But Giovani Bernard will get another start in the backfield and is a surefire RB1 play in a potential dome shootout in Atlanta.
Atlanta Falcons
Julio Jones (calf) was not listed on the final injury report for Week 4. Jones sat out Wednesday’s practice, but he was never in real danger of sitting out this week. He will be a high-end WR1 against the Bengals.
NFL Betting Trends
Cincinnati
The Bengals are 4-1 against the spread in their last five games overall and are 15-6-2 against the number in their last 23 games played in the month of September.
Atlanta
The Falcons are 5-2 against the spread in their last seven home games and are 4-1 ATS in their last five games coming off a loss.
Prediction
The point spread dropped from Falcons -5 down to -3.5. That would indicate that sharp bettors are on the Bengals. That said, all of the value has been sucked out of this line. If you liked Cincinnati, you should have grabbed the Bengals earlier in the week when you were receiving nearly a touchdown with the road favorite. The Bengals look good but let’s not bury the Falcons, who could be 3-0 had their offense not failed them in Week 1 and their defense not failed them last Sunday. Granted, Atlanta is without both starting safeties and its middle linebacker but the Falcons get Takk McKinnley (groin) back this week and they’re playing at home. I’m buying the hook down to the key number of 3 and riding with the Falcons.
NFL Week 4 Prediction: Atlanta Falcons -3 (buy hook)
